Svetislav Stevanović Ćećo, widely known to the public as a community worker, creator, father, grandfather and uncle, passed away today, August 21, 2026, in Bijeljina after a long and serious illness.

Svetislav was best known for establishing the system of Banja Dvorovi, which continues to operate today according to the principles he introduced. He was a visionary of his time. Among other achievements, he brought the first small train to Bijeljina, which still carries children and passengers on the Bijeljina–Dvorovi–Bijeljina route.

During the period of the strictest communist regime, he was one of the few directors who established an international consortium with Italian banks, through which the construction of Banja Dvorovi was financed with the participation of the local community.

In addition, Svetislav worked in the Public Revenue Administration, the Municipality of Ugljevik, and the Ugljevik Mine and Thermal Power Plant. During the last 20 years of his life, he devoted himself to building the company “Work” d.o.o. Bijeljina, which was visionary in the development and installation of public lighting systems in cities across Republika Srpska.

Svetislav was a strong advocate of enlightenment and culture. He actively participated in numerous concerts, exhibitions and literary evenings, contributing to the cultural identity of our community in many ways, often also as a sponsor of such events.

Svetislav leaves behind his wife Stjepanija, son Petar, daughter-in-law Silvana, brother Branislav and his family, his grandchildren, and numerous friends and admirers of his life and work.
