The strength of the system, the discipline of law, and the energy of motherhood

Božana Simić is the General Manager of Stevanović Law Office. In practice, she is the driving force of the entire system, together with the owner Miloš Stevanović, with whom the working day begins every morning at five o’clock. She is a mother of four, a PhD candidate in intellectual property law at the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, and a person who successfully balances top-level professionalism, management of complex processes, and family stability on a daily basis. We spoke with her about responsibility, leadership, law, and the strength of inner discipline.

How would you describe your role at Stevanović Law Office?

My role is to ensure that the system functions — clearly, precisely, and without delays. Legal practice is a demanding and dynamic profession, and when a law office grows, there must be someone who sees the bigger picture: people, processes, deadlines, and client relationships. My task is to turn energy into structure, and ideas into operational reality.

You are often described as the “driving engine” of the office. How do you perceive that?

I perceive it as trust and responsibility. An engine does not have to be visible, but it must be reliable. I value systems, order, and clearly defined procedures. When everything functions as it should, lawyers can fully dedicate themselves to what they do best — law and clients.

You are a mother of four children while simultaneously building an academic career. How do you achieve balance?

Balance does not mean perfection, but awareness of priorities. Family is my support and source of strength. Work is my professional identity, and the PhD is my personal intellectual challenge. When you know what matters to you, it becomes easier to allocate time and energy. Discipline is key — both in parenting and in professional life.

Why did you choose intellectual property law as the field of your doctoral studies?

Intellectual property law is the law of the future. It connects law, technology, creativity, and economics. In a time when ideas, brands, and digital content are key resources, their legal protection becomes the foundation of stable and serious systems. This field truly inspires and professionally motivates me.

How do you see the role of women in the contemporary legal and business environment?

Women do not have to choose between strength and sensitivity. It is precisely that combination that brings stability and longevity. I believe that women in management often bring additional responsibility, organization, and strategic thinking — which is extremely important in complex systems such as legal practice and advisory services.

What do you consider the greatest value of Stevanović Law Office?

The greatest value of the office is the combination of vision, people, and system. Thanks to Miloš Stevanović, the firm’s owner, we have a clearly defined direction, an ambition to constantly grow, and the courage to build something more than a traditional law office. When such vision and trust in people exist, my task is to translate it into a stable, functional, and sustainable system. We pay special attention to the group’s investments, carefully assess risks, and make informed decisions.
