Aleksandar Stojanović for StandardClassic Radio: “The Greatest Value of the Media Is Not Speed, but Trust”
10.06.2026Interview by: Danka Zakić, Editor-in-Chief of StandardClassic Radio
Aleksandar Stojanović, better known to the wider public as “Aca Informacija,” is one of the most recognizable sports journalists, commentators, and media personalities in the region. Throughout a career spanning several decades, he has left a strong mark on television journalism, sports broadcasting, and author-driven programs, while in recent years he has also been actively developing his own podcast formats.
Starting this month, listeners of StandardClassic Radio will have the opportunity to follow his original program, “Afternoon with Aca Informacija,” every Thursday at 6:00 PM. The show brings conversations about sports, society, media, history, and everyday topics that shape our times.
Mr. Stojanović, after so many years in the media, what still motivates you to sit behind the microphone?
Aleksandar Stojanović: For me, the microphone has always been a place of connection with people. Technology changes, platforms come and go, but the human need to hear a good story remains the same. That opportunity to convey an idea, emotion, or piece of information is what continues to motivate me.
Many people know you as a sports commentator. How different is journalism today compared to when you started?
Aleksandar Stojanović: It is completely different, almost unrecognizable. Information used to be a privilege; today there is an overabundance of it. That is why journalists today are less transmitters of news and more interpreters of events. Audiences expect context, knowledge, and credibility. My own approach to work and to sports in general had to evolve accordingly. I am proud to say that I recently published, independently, a magazine dedicated to the FIFA World Cup. I still believe, as my friend Miloš Stevanović has often said, that print remains unmatched. Much better than an Instagram post.
How did the nickname “Aca Informacija” come about?
Aleksandar Stojanović: It emerged spontaneously through my work and communication with the audience. Over time, it became part of my professional identity, and today I see it as an obligation to ensure that information is verified and accurate.
In recent years, you have been developing your own podcasts. Why has this format become so important?
Aleksandar Stojanović: Because it allows for depth and reaches a large audience, not only domestically but internationally as well. In television programming, you are often limited by time. A podcast allows you to speak with a guest for one or two hours and gives the audience the chance to truly get to know the person. My podcast has a very large following, as do the other things I publish on online platforms.
What attracted you to cooperation with StandardClassic Radio?
Aleksandar Stojanović: First and foremost, the idea. At a time when everyone is chasing clicks, it is refreshing to find a media outlet that wants to cultivate conversation, a culture of dialogue, and serious topics. That attracted me.
What can listeners expect from “Afternoon with Aca Informacija”?
Aleksandar Stojanović: They can expect honest conversations. I do not want to be limited only to sports. We will talk about economics, culture, society, history, travel, and interesting people from different fields.
When I first spoke with Miloš about the show, we agreed on everything within five minutes. I was thrilled by the idea of bringing classical music back to our region and creating a radio station that will resonate not only with lovers of classical music but also with audiences interested in sports, film, culture, and the arts. I believe this station, which is also free of charge, will be a wonderful gift to every listener. I have nothing but praise for the concept, and I am convinced that my program will help increase both the audience and the overall quality.
How difficult is it today to preserve independence in the media?
Aleksandar Stojanović: It is difficult, but not impossible. The key is that the audience knows who you are and that you build trust over the years. When you have the trust of your audience, you possess the greatest capital any media outlet can have. Personally, I believe that I have fully preserved my independence, and it will always remain that way. There is no amount of money that could change my view of developments in sports or business, which are becoming increasingly interconnected.
Have social media improved or harmed journalism?
Aleksandar Stojanović: Both. They have brought speed and accessibility, but they have also created space for misinformation. That is why the role of professional media may be more important today than ever before. That is also why I feel most comfortable in front of a camera and a microphone.
Which sporting event has remained most deeply in your memory?
Aleksandar Stojanović: It is difficult to single out just one. There have been many great matches and tournaments, but what I remember most are the moments when sport transcends the result itself and becomes a story about people. I have high expectations for the next FIFA World Cup. Unfortunately, we have already seen some issues emerge, including court orders related to hearings involving certain FIFA officials, but we will see how that develops.
How do you view the development of sports in the Balkans over the next decade?
Aleksandar Stojanović: We have talent. What we often lack is a system. When talent is supported by serious organization, results come naturally.
What inspires you most outside your professional life?
Aleksandar Stojanović: Books, history, and conversations with people. We learn the most when we listen to others.
Do you enjoy being a host more than being a commentator today?
Aleksandar Stojanović: A host. A commentator describes events, while a host has the opportunity to explore ideas and the personalities of people.
What advice would you give to young journalists?
Aleksandar Stojanović: Be curious. Techniques can be learned, but curiosity cannot. It is what makes the difference between an average journalist and a good one.
How do you see the future of radio?
Aleksandar Stojanović: Radio will not disappear. It will simply change its form. Today we listen through phones, apps, and podcasts, but the need for a voice we trust remains the same.
Finally, why should our listeners tune in to StandardClassic Radio every Thursday at 6:00 PM?
Aleksandar Stojanović: Because we will try to create something that is becoming increasingly rare today—a quality conversation without noise. If, after the show, listeners come away with one new idea or perspective, I will consider our mission accomplished.
“Afternoon with Aca Informacija” airs every Thursday at 6:00 PM on StandardClassic Radio. Through conversations with fascinating guests from the worlds of sports, media, business, and culture, Aleksandar Stojanović brings authentic stories, experiences, and perspectives on the topics that shape our society.
