New Infrastructure Projects in Republika Srpska: Šepak – Novi Grad Gas Pipeline

25.04.2026

Republika Srpska is entering one of the most significant investment phases in its modern economic history through the implementation of the main gas pipeline Šepak – Novi Grad, a project whose total value exceeds one billion convertible marks and which is already positioning itself as the largest energy infrastructure undertaking in the country.

By signing the framework agreement on the design and construction of this gas pipeline, the implementation of a project has formally begun that will transform the energy and industrial landscape of Republika Srpska in the coming years.

Strategic importance of the project

The gas pipeline, with a planned length of approximately 500 kilometers, will be implemented in three key phases: from Šepak to Banja Luka, then through a network of connecting pipelines to cities and municipalities, and finally from Banja Luka to Novi Grad.

This infrastructure system will cover as many as 18 municipalities and an area inhabited by around 64% of the population of Republika Srpska, thereby opening the way for comprehensive gasification and long-term energy stability.

The project is led by the company “Sarajevogas” a.d. Istočno Sarajevo, while the execution of works involves a complex consortium of regional companies, further confirming its international and regional character.

Economic effects and industrial development

The construction of the gas pipeline has the potential to initiate a new investment cycle in Republika Srpska. The introduction of natural gas as a stable and cost-effective energy source enables the development of industrial zones, the opening of production capacities, and the improvement of economic competitiveness.

Estimates indicate that the project will:
– create hundreds of new jobs during the construction and operation phases,
– engage hundreds of subcontractors from the fields of construction, energy, logistics, and services,
– generate additional indirect effects through the development of local communities along the gas pipeline route.

Additionally, a reduction in heating costs and a significant improvement in air quality are expected, positioning this project as a key component of the region’s energy transition.

The role of StandardPrva

The StandardPrva group has an active and strategically important role in this project. As a reliable partner in financial management and regulatory compliance, StandardPrva participates as:
– accountant,
– tax representative,
– tax consultant

for almost all key participants in the implementation of the project.

This position confirms not only the operational capacity of StandardPrva but also its status as a central platform for supporting the largest infrastructure and investment projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Managing the complex tax and financial aspects of a project of this magnitude requires a high level of expertise, coordination, and institutional trust – which StandardPrva continuously demonstrates.

The Šepak – Novi Grad gas pipeline is not just an infrastructure project – it represents the foundation of a new economic architecture of Republika Srpska. Its implementation will, in the long term, redefine energy security, industrial development, and the investment attractiveness of the region.

In such an environment, StandardPrva confirms its position as a key advisor and operational partner, not only in the field of finance and taxation but also in the broader context of strategic economic development.
